Maccas Hacks.
A couple of years ago, TikTok was still new territory for most brands - especially banks. CommBank had dabbled on the platform, but like many, hadn’t yet cracked how to make content that actually fit. Too polished, too ad-like, and the audience were swiping straight past.
Our job was to help them show up in a way that made sense. The message was simple: get cashback on McDonald’s with Menulog through the CommBank app. The approach? Keep it fun, lo-fi and native to the platform.
On a Big Mac budget, I turned my apartment into a student flat and shot Macca’s Hacks with an iPhone, a selfie ring light, and a lot of fast food. Created in collaboration with TikTok, the videos were designed to feel like something you’d actually watch. And they did… The campaign smashed expectations, with view-through rates 256% above benchmark, proving that when you speak the platform’s language, even a bank can cut through.
